Kayaking in Lerwick

Europe

The main reason we decided to visit the Shetlands was to do some kayaking. Carrie read that the kayaking was superb. But we were running out of time and the weather was not making kayaking or doing anything outdoors possible.

We got to kayak into this neat cave where we saw some big jellyfish.

Lucky for us the wind decided to take a break today. We coordinated a half day trip with the only kayaking outfit on the island and had a grand time poking around the coastal cliffs near Lerwick.

After a nice day on the water, we had to catch the ferry to take us to Aberdeen, where we’d be catching a flight to Norway. We were excited because we were able to find a Warmshowers host in Aberdeen to cut costs and because we were soon headed to Norway, the fjordiest place in the world.
