Strangers
EuropeWhat makes a good day during a bike tour? Sometimes it’s the riding and other times it’s the people you meet along the way.
Before leaving the hostel in the morning, we ended up talking with a gentleman from Washington DC who retired from the EPA and decided to try his hand at bike touring. Ireland was his first adventure. He was inspired to try after meeting a touring cyclist in Montana.
When we arrived at the caravan park in Westport the rain turned from drizzle to downpour. We weren’t excited about pitching our tent in a downpour. Carrie found a large game room where we were able roll our bikes and take shelter.
Once we settled in we got to talking with an older woman named Sue from Wales. Over a course of maybe three hours we talked about cycling and current affairs.
Although relationships are fleeting when you travel, it was nice today to spend more time than usual bonding with other cyclists.
