Already the differences between the UK and Ireland are apparent. To link small roads together, we took this small ferry across the Barrow River.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>So what are the differences? The roads are quieter here. There&#8217;s less overall traffic. The drivers seem to be equally polite in both countries. If possible they give a wide berth when passing. Food is more expensive here, although we&#8217;ve only shopped in small town markets so far. Food in the UK seemed similar to prices at home. The whole conversion thing could be throwing us off though. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today&#8217;s ride was on small roads along the south east coast. It drizzled off and on all day, which meant we were constantly shedding clothes and redressing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After setting up camp, we walked into town to look for an ATM. At the beach was an unusually large crowd. The crowd was also dressed up in Halloween costumes. There were guys with walkie talkies and police officers directing traffic. Something was up. I asked a person who appeared to be part of the event what was going on. She said they were filming for some unannounced BBC TV series. She couldn&#8217;t tell me more. Maybe someday we&#8217;ll be watching the shoe and recognize the location.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today was our first full day riding in Ireland.
